Stupid Funtime with Goat Simulator

Who knew pretending to be a goat could be so much fun? Yeah, I just said that.

In the past 5 years or so it seems there has been a gaming revolution of sorts in which Indie game developers have been producing tons of crazy awesome games. Goat Simulator is one of those games. Apparently this game was developed in less than 3 weeks but it packs a punch.

So what do you do exactly?

You are a goat on a rampage through the city and the surrounding wilderness. You can rampage with your goat friends or you can rampage alone.

How is this fun?

IMO this game is best when played with another person so you can both find joy in the extreme silliness. If your competitive like me you may enjoy racking up points as you flip, crash into things and walk up walls. Interacting with the random environment is interesting and challenging. There are some familiar characters that pop up in certain areas which are a nice surprise. 

It's kind of cathartic to knock over things in people's houses and make big messes that you never have to clean up. In general the bigger mess you make and the crazier stunts you pull, the more points you earn. 

Any cons?

Goat Simulator is a bit glitch-y but if your goat gets stuck in a weird place you can normally wiggle your way out of it by button smashing while the view goes bonkers. If that doesn't work you can always reset your game. If you do that you'll lose your points but its no big deal really due to the nature of the game. 

Any violence concerns?

There is no blood in this game which I appreciate. It is kind of unsettling that people automatically flop when you hit them or run into them. I would feel better if they had a timer on them and they got back up after so many seconds instead of just lying there. 

There is also one place in which there is a demonic symbol burning in the ground that summons goats or something. I stay away from that area. 

What are the controls?

My sons and I use these Xbox 360 Controller for Windows with USB plugs from Amazon. They work on our PC running Windows 7 as well as our MacBook. With this set up the default is:

• Left toggle moves your goat
• Right toggle changes your view
• "A" button = Jump
• "B" button =  Sticky tongue / lick
• You use your tongue like a frog to catch items and ride items like cars and bicycles.
• "Y" button = Seems to help you flip, but not really sure what this button is for :P.
• X Button = Ragdoll 
• Your body becomes floppy, wobbly and uncontrollable. 

Will it run on my computer?

This game won't work well if you have a slow graphics card. IT works on our MacBook but it is way too slow on our PC which we need to upgrade. The System Requirements Lab's website has more information.

You can purchase a Steam Key through the Goat Simulator website for only $9.99. They also sell merchandise like T shirts and mugs. I bought it during a Steam Sale for $5.99.

Gel Pads

I'm a chick, so I use pantyliners every once in a while when I remember to buy them. I never remember what kind I normally buy, so I end up getting whatever is the cheapest for the most. Last time I bought Carefree acti-fresh body shape.

I used them for a bit thinking they were normal pantyliners. I was wrong. Very wrong. I stupidly left one on when I gave my dog a bath. I got out of the shower and I was like "what is this thing hanging between my legs?" I think I know what is feels like to have a tucked penis now.

The pad had inflated more than ten times its original size. There was this weird beaded-gel leaking out the side, down my leg, and all over my underwear. What the hell had I been wearing in my underpants? What if I had gone swimming with one on? That would have been embarrassing. I'm glad that this happened in my private bathroom rather than at the pool. I re-read the entire packaging and no where do they warn you that you shouldn't swim with this device in place.

I tried to look up this alien substance. I couldn't definitively find out what it is because feminine hygiene products are not required to share their list of components with the public. I did find out that it is probably a superabsorbent polymer , most likely sodium polyacrylate. Sodium polyacrylate isn't the most horrible substance on the planet, but it can cause irritation to the eyes and other mucus membranes. I'm assuming if it can irritate your nostrils it can irritate your lady bits. In the 1980's it was added to some tampons, which increased the risk of TSS, and was subsequently removed. It has also been linked to cancer in rats, but no studies have been done on humans. Here is my source for this info.

I think I will be avoiding pantyliners for a bit. I'm kinda freaked out. I mean, what if some of those little beads get into my urethra and expand? I have a feeling that would be painful.

Rant: Bloglovin' needs an unfollowers function asap

Bloglovin' is pretty awesome. At this point I think it is the best social network for sharing blogs with other bloggers but it really irritates me when someone follows me until I follow them and then they unfollow me. If it didn't take so much time I would love to know whose blogs and profiles I could remove from my friends list without hurting anybody's feelings or unjustifiably decreasing their readership numbers. 

I have tried a few different methods for removing those who don't follow me anymore but they have all been too time consuming. I have enough on my plate as it is so I just leave it and let my unfollowers escape me. At one point I thought about un-following everyone and then re-following those who follow me but I don't want to lose or confuse any readers in the process. Right now I am following 1383 and I have 536 followers. I would get rid of most of the 847 bloggers who don't follow me back in a heartbeat if it wasn't such a pain! 

Has anyone come up with an easy system for un-following un-followers on Bloglovin'? I really wish that Bloglovin' was added to Unfollowers.com because that would be phenomenal. 

Ever since I started using Unfollowers as a Twitter tool it has made it much easier to track who is following and unfollowing me. I have been able to grow my audience there a bit faster because of it as well, and I don't have to spend much time to do it. Typically I follow about 8 people each week and then unfollow those who don't follow me back. That's not a whole lot but I don't want to worry about it too much I just want to keep it growing and so far it has been great. I have discovered some cool Twitter peeps in the process :).

A Goodbye in the Fabric

This is this dress's last hurrah. I have never gotten as many compliments on a single item of clothing. It has small spots and small tears throughout from all of the use it has seen. It has been my go to party dress and hot-summer-day dress for five years.

I got it in a small shop in Asheville. I've been back to this shop a few times and they have had the same Gilli dress in different colors, but never this color again. And none of the other colors ever seem to work. Pale pink looks awful on me. I tried. Anyway, no color looks as good against storm-clouds as chartreuse. 

This is also my last goodbye to this large pin oak. It was put down due to rotting that may or may not have caused structural damage to the upper limbs. People should never plant trees that grow this tall next to their house... it is just too sad when the inevitable has to happen. 

I hope my dress and the tree can find new life in something else. I guess I'll probably still wear the dress as a kick-around dress, but it will never be a nice dinner dress again. I hope the tree gets carved into pretty things or is at least used as mulch and firewood.

In Love With... Anna Sui Spring/ Summer 2015 RTW Collection

Goth, hippie, mod, boho, celestial... Anna Sui's Spring/ Summer 2015 collection is off the charts gorgeous. If only I was a billionaire, I would give her all my money. Or at least a good chunk of it. Most of these styles actually look comfortable and wearable on top of being beautiful. And there are boots. Lots and lots of sexy boots.

New Polish

I haven't bought new nail-polish in at least 2 or 3 years. Last winter messed up a bunch of my old stash because the air was so dry. I don't know how it made my nail polish thick and goopy when the lids were tightly secured, but it did. So I kinda needed to buy some new polish. I looked at water-based ones, that I might try them someday, but they just seemed to complicated. So I just picked out a color that seemed cool at the health-food store.

Anyway, I love this new color! It's called Abalone and it really does look like the inside of an abalone shell, but it's not made from them because it's a vegan polish. It can look green in the sunlight, purple in the shadow, and grey at an angle. It's like all my favorite colors in one polish! And it matches my favorite summer shoes.

And it doesn't chip at all, really. I wore it for two months of hiking, yard work, and general debauchery and the only place where my toenails were showing was where they grew out. 

It is called "7 free" because it is made without parabens, phthalates (dibutyl phthalate), toluene, xylene, camphor, formaldehyde, resin, and animals. I don't know about you, but I am always looking for a good formaldehyde-free nail-polish. I'm not ready to be embalmed yet!

And did I mention the cool nautilus shells on the cap? I am a sucker for anything nautilus related, so that's why I got it in the first place. It's just so golden-ratio!

Natural Beauty Haul: iHerb review

Finding natural, healthy beauty products that are just as effective as standard beauty products can be a bit tricky. It definitely requires a bit of patience, research and experimentation but in the end I think it's totally worth it, especially for those who are sensitive to toxins. 

I love the process of mixing my own beauty products and my sons are always eager to help. I truly believe in holistic healing as it has been around for generations and I like to avoid chemicals like lauryl sulfates. Plus its nearly shamanistic, kind of makes me feel like a healer as oftentimes my natural concoctions actually work like magic :P. It even saves money in the long run.

Thankfully there are quite a few natural stores that carry a ton of natural products at prices that usually beat Whole foods or other health food stores. Lately I have been loving iHerb for my natural beauty supplies and ingredients. I buy quite a bit on Amazon too but iHerb has their prices beat for some of my beauty staples. iHerb also has free expedited 1-5 day shipping with a $20 purchase. Works for me!

Dr. Bronner's liquid Castile soap

Favorite scents: black soap for body and hair, peppermint for feet and hands.

Uses: body wash, shampoo, foaming hand soap. I love to mix with distiller water and put it in a foamer!

Why I like it: the Shea butter versions are actually moisturizing which is rare for Castile soap. Cheaper than Dr. Bronner's. Black soap is great for clarifying pores. The peppermint is tingly. 

TN Dicinkson's Witch hazel

Uses: toner, spritzer additive

Why I like it: this product is 100% natural witch hazel 

Lily of the desert Aloe Vera Gel

Uses: face mask additive, internal healing, skin soother

Why I like it: This particular aloe vera gel is cheap, free of additives and it doesn't smell weird. Must be refrigerated after opening.

Bob's Red Mill Arrowroot powder

Uses: dry shampoo, cosmetic additive, face powder (can mix with pure cocoa powder to darken), cornstarch alternative

Why I like it: At $5 this is really cheap for 1 lb of arrowroot powder and it is good quality.

Sierra Bees organic cocoa butter and organic pomegranate lip balms

Uses: moisturizing 

Why I like it: These were on special for $0.50 each and for that price they are amazing! Great to know that it is pure and organic so that it is safe to consume and great for those who are sensitive to chemical fragrances. iHerb has a link to all of their specials at the top of the page. I almost always buy a special as it is a really great way to try a product at a discounted price.

Pro- Underboob Sweat

I have come across a bunch of articles online lately talking about how horrible boob sweat is. It might be a bit hippy-dippy of me, but I don't really have a problem with it. In fact, I sometimes think of it as a badge of honor for how hard I've been working in the hot sun. I feel proud of my damn boob sweat. I earned this moisture! 

I don't think boob sweat is as gross as crotch sweat or even underarm sweat.  I've never had a problem with boob sweat smelling. Maybe I'm just lucky. Sweating buckets can make me feel cleansed like I went to a sauna or something. It also sorta makes me look like I'm wearing a cool bustier.

I guess boob sweat is an accessory you can only wear proudly while doing something like yard work or working out. I don't think I would rock boob sweat at a party or anything. If I was invited to a hot and humid dance party I would wear something more lose to let the air dry it faster. Actually, I probably wouldn't go to a hot and humid dance party at all, because that sounds like torture. I do like having the escape of a nice, cool shower after my titties sweat like crazy.

Funny Faux Jeans

I can still clearly remember the first time I saw pajama jeans. I was at Fred Meyer shopping around and I came across a pair in the aisle of the men's section. Totally tripped me out lol. They are the strangest thing, printed so clearly yet still so obviously pajamas and not jeans.

I've grown to learn to control my enthusiasm a tad but I still had to show my sons and my husband lol. I love borderline hillbilly fashion - just not on me. Here are some of the craziest faux jean items I've found in awhile. Rock em if you can!
