Who doesn't love horses?

I know that I am not the only girl that grew up wanting a horse. Now I don't want a horse anymore, I have a hard enough time cleaning up after myself :P. But there is still something that I just love about horses and anything with horse print on it.

This sweater by Kensie is cute but not overboard. I also loved the J Crew "Horsing Around" sweater but it sold out! The collar adds a little sparkle and it is a great item to have for the upcoming holiday season. I love the hard edge that the tartan pants and spiked boots add to the look. The tan saddle bag pulls everything together.

Now that we're on the subject of horses I must share with you my absolute favorite horse print item. It's a... diaper bag! Exciting, right :P?

Wildkin Horse Dreams diaper bag

Pocket <3
I have been through a lot of diaper bags. I love this one so much that I feel like I need to tell the world.

It is:
  • Lightweight
    • Even when it is stuffed full. This adds 1000 bonus points.
  • Easy to clean.
    • Since it is made of nylon it really does wipe clean with a damp cloth.
  • Cute
    • It isn't Coach or anything but it is  nicer looking than most imo.
    • It also comes in other prints including polka dots and paisley.
  • Organized
    • Diapers fit perfectly into the inside and outside pockets so that they don't get scrunched.
    • Everything has it's own little place so it is easy to find things.
  • Roomy
    • I can fit enough clothes in here for all 3 of my kids, along with wipes, diapers and other necessities.
Hope that your week is full of happiness, and horses!

Wedding Digs??

I never know what to wear to weddings. Not that I've been to very many, but as long as the food is good, right? So there's this wedding I have to go to early next year and I have months to prepare this time. Here is my idea:

Sculpture Dress

Mirrored Shoes

Is it totally over the top? I mean everyone's supposed to be looking at the bride, not me. And they're too expensive, obviously, but I was thinking of DIYing it (do people really buy four-thousand dollar shoes?).

I'm so bad at this... where do you recommend wearing an outfit as cool as this and what the hell do you wear to a wedding?

In Love with.... Barsuk Records

Yesterday I stumbled upon Barsuk Record's video channel in Youtube when I found this song "Don't Move" from the band Phantogram. The band and the label are both new to me although the video came out in November 2012. After the video finished playing I listened to the next song from their channel, and another and another... and I liked them all!

According to Wikipedia, "Barsuk Records (/bɑrˈsk/ bar-SOOK) is an independent record label based in Seattle, Washington, started and still managed by the members of the band This Busy Monster." I think that the most popular band that they signed is Death Cab for Cutie but I have loved listening to all of their other bands.

If you like Indie music, and/ or if other people consider you to be a bit "hipster" I think you would like their music but you may have already discovered them :P. In my opinion they have pretty good taste and everything I have listened to from them has had interesting lyrics and melodies. Also, none of it was distasteful, I don't need to cover my kids ear's when listening to their channel.

Vertical and Horizontal

I've had these jeans since I was 18. They have a part that has worn through from my keys in the pocket. They have a hole where I dropped some super-glue and it somehow ate the denim away. And I ripped out the butt. It just wore away and what is left is super soft. I patched them with another pair of jeans that fell apart. They have paint all over them from when I used to build theater sets. They used to be a fairly dark wash. And they're Diesel .. or maybe a knock-off. I got them at a consignment store, so I'm not sure.

The shirt is from Express. I really like the shape of the sleeves.

This is my favorite pair of boots. They are La Canadienne. I got them for eight dollars! They were my best find ever. I had been coveting them for months and then they appeared. The leather is so soft, and although they seemed a little tight at first they conformed perfectly to my feet. When my mom saw them she said I was wearing her grandmother's shoes. Hahaha... and here I was thinking they were military style.

Pretty, Pretty Paisley

I was short on cash this birthday so instead of buying a new dress I went ahead and altered this vintage paisley one since I love the colors and the print.

This dress used to have long sleeves, a longer hemline and a high neckline. I cut the dress how I wanted it first and then I rolled and sewed all the undone fabric.

The hem and the arm holes lay a bit low now so I have to wear a cami underneath but I am still very pleased with the results. I am getting a bit braver with my sewing machine!

I was hesitant to hem the bottom at first because I didn't want the pleated fabric to look weird after it was shortened. It just ended up being a bit ruffly. I am sure I could go and iron the pleats individually but I don't mind the swirl effect.

In this look:

  • Vintage paisley dress
  • Black camisole
  • Black stretch belt from UO
  • Jules Smith good luck charm jelly bracelet set
  • Steve Madden combat boots
  • Riri Woo Nude lipstick

Hope everyone is having a great October! I am pretty sure that it is my favorite month :).

Birthday Cake Dress

For some reason I love anything that reminds me of birthday cake. Including this dress made by Ya. I mean, it has tiers more like a wedding cake, but I still think it's a birthday cake dress.

It's funny, because I'm not even that keen on birthday cake. Give me a cupcake instead any day. But the fact remains... I love wines that I think taste like birthday cake. I think sea urchin and cuttlefish taste like birthday cake and I love them. Yeah, everyone thinks it's weird...

Anyway, I hope you had a great birthday KM!

In the clouds

If I had an extra $600 burning a hole in my pocket I would buy this cloud print shirt by Kenzo. I love the water color print and the ruching at the top. I also like blouse cuts that are slightly longer in the back but not too short in the front and this one accomplishes that. Plus, you never know what you'll find in the clouds!

Graffiti in the Name of Love

This is my favorite thing to wear at the moment.

I found the tank top on the ground. Don't worry - I washed it in super hot water and lots of soap before I wore it the first time. All that it says on it is "Sexy Basic Bra Cami," so I have no idea where it is from.

My cargoes are from Eddie Bauer... men's side. I remember when I got them the sales guy kept following me asking me if I needed any help... embarrassing. The button on the fly broke about two years into wearing them. The center of it just popped out. I sewed on a new button that looks like a pocket-watch. Now I call these pants my time-travel pants!
